Matthew Burrell serves as a Senior Claims Adjuster at Ryan Specialty Renewables. Matthew started his career at Howden Specialty as a Claims Technician in 2017, initially handling oil and gas and combined liability losses with the Offshore Energy and Liability team before joining the Power and Renewables Claims team as a Claims Executive in 2019. Over the next seven years, Matthew assisted insureds with their claims on their global renewables portfolios, with a particular focus on UK and European risks. In May 2026, Matthew joined Ryan Specialty Renewables to assist the Head of Claims with the management and day-to-day handling of a growing Rest of World renewable energy portfolio, which encompasses a variety of renewable assets such as solar, onshore and offshore wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Matthew also assists in the development and mentoring of junior members of the team.
Matthew is also a member of the steering committee for the Renewable Energy Claims Conference, a committee focused on delivering meaningful insight and practical value to those who work in the renewable energy claims industry.
