
Tom Kaley serves as a Senior Risk Account Engineer at Ryan Specialty Renewables. Tom has over eleven years of civil engineering experience. He joined Ryan Specialty Renewables in 2024 as a Senior Risk Account Engineer to bring this experience to renewable power and now specializes in technologies such as onshore wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, hydroelectric, hydrogen, and data centers. Before joining the team, Tom worked as a Lead Civil Design Engineer, beginning his career in the midstream and downstream oil and gas industry before transitioning to industrial water and wastewater, where he led projects from preliminary concept design through startup and operation.
At Ryan Specialty Renewables, Tom works with Underwriting and Claims, insureds, and brokers to provide loss control guidance through surveys, account meetings, presentations, and resource development, drawing on his design experience to address geotechnical hazards, hydrology and hydraulics, civil site plans, and construction management. He has contributed to technical resources on solar farm vegetation management, solar farm hail stow mitigation, hydrogen electrolysis, and probable maximum loss (PML) development. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, and has completed Global Wind Organization Onshore Wind Basic Safety Training.
